Three Suspects Charged In Violent Assault, Robbery Of $3K That Left Bicyclist Seriously Injured

Two Fairfield County residents and a third teenager are scheduled to appear in court in the coming weeks after being arrested for allegedly robbing a cyclist and hospitalizing him.

Members of the Milford Police Department launched an investigation at approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, following a report of a robbery on the one-way section of Buckingham Avenue near New Haven Avenue.

Police said that the victim was riding his bike when he was approached by three people in a vehicle. The victim was knocked off his bike and hospitalized after suffering “serious physical injuries.” Before fleeing the scene, the three suspects robbed personal items and $3,000 cash from their victim.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, a Milford police officer conducted a traffic stop of the suspected vehicle. Following an investigation officers in Milford arrested two men from Bridgeport and a juvenile.

Carlos Marrero, 25, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 15 and charged with robbery, assault, criminal mischief, and driving the wrong way on a one-way highway. He has already appeared in court and has a second appearance scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Jacob Marrero, 19, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and charged with robbery, assault, larceny and conspiracy to commit robbery. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Milford Court on Jan. 2. Additional information on the juvenile was not available due to his potential status as a youthful offender.
